Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

GETSSENT ("the app") is a "dead man's switch" service that automatically forwards messages and documents to designated recipients if the user becomes unreachable for a prolonged period. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data controller

The data controller can be reached at: contact@getssentinel.com.

2. Data collected

Third-party data (recipients and trusted contacts): when you enter the details of loved ones, you do so in a strictly personal or family context, under your own responsibility, and you declare that you have a legitimate reason to do so. These individuals may exercise their rights (access, erasure) by contacting us.

3. Purposes and legal basis

Data is processed solely to provide the service. The legal basis is performance of the contract and your consent. We do not use your data for advertising and never sell it. The Service is intended for persons aged 18 or over.

4. Recipients and processors

Transfers outside the European Union: some of our processors (notably Cloudflare, Resend and Firebase/Google) may host or process data outside the European Union, in particular in the United States. Such transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards under the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, adequacy mechanisms (e.g. the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).

5. Retention

Your data is kept as long as your account is active. It is permanently deleted when you delete your account (immediate erasure of the database and storage). Generated download links expire automatically (30 days by default). Note: the host Cloudflare keeps technical database snapshots ("Time Travel") for a limited period (~30 days), used only for disaster recovery.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection, directly in the app (Settings) or by writing to contact@getssentinel.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in France, the CNILwww.cnil.fr).

7. Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete my account, or from the Account deletion page. A double confirmation is required (typing the word "DELETE" + your password) to prevent accidental deletion. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

8. Security

Your messages and documents are encrypted at rest (AES-256). Passwords are hashed (PBKDF2), communications encrypted (HTTPS) and file access protected by private, email-verified links.

Additional measures: email address verification at sign-up (6-digit code), anti-bot protection (CAPTCHA) on authentication pages, protections against repeated login attempts, and a tamper-proof audit log (cryptographic hash-chaining) that makes any modification of the security history immediately detectable. This log contains none of your message content, only technical identifiers.

Honest note: this is not "end-to-end" encryption. To automatically forward your messages in your absence, the service must be able to decrypt them at send time. In return, no tool lets the publisher read your content: decryption is only automatic, at trigger time, and every decryption is recorded in the tamper-proof audit log — which you can verify yourself in the app (Settings → Access log).

Stronger authentication options available: two-factor authentication (2FA) via an authenticator app, a 48-hour security hold after a sensitive operation, and a local lock (biometrics / PIN). Sharing links require a 6-digit code verification sent to the recipient before any access to the documents.

9. Cookies and trackers

The mobile app uses no advertising cookies or analytics trackers. Our website uses only a strictly necessary technical cookie, set by the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-bot service on authentication pages, to tell you apart from a robot. No cookie is used for advertising, profiling or behavioural tracking.

10. Reports and moderation

Anyone can report content they believe is illegal via our Report content page. We then keep the category, description, the concerned link and, where applicable, the reporter's email and IP address, in order to process the request and keep a record in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). We may remove illegal content and suspend a concerned account, informing the user of the reasons.
